•Production and management team members celebrate the occasion
• Over 126,000 square feet to be added to existing manufacturing facility

Sumter, SC, August 29, 2022 – Continental Tire broke ground earlier this month in Sumter, South
Carolina on a new building which will add an additional 126,000 square feet to the existing two
million-square-foot tire manufacturing facility. The new expansion area will house additional
production equipment for current production and future capacity needs.
“This new production building is an investment in the future of our Sumter facility, and it exemplifies
the trust Continental has in the dedicated employees at this facility who continue to deliver quality
products to our customers”, said Benny Harmse, Continental plant manager and vice president of
Manufacturing.

Continental will begin the installation of a new extruder in May 2023 which will be operational by
November 2023. The extruder will support the current production capacity. Approximately 10 new
jobs will be created by 2023 to support tire production.

Continental Tire Sumter plant, South Carolina, a tire manufacturing facility of Continental Tire the
Americas, LLC, produces high-quality, premium lines of passenger and light truck tires for original
equipment and replacement markets. Having a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with a
