Sumter-Based Company Plans to Add 200 Jobs by the end of September

Thompson Industrial Services and Sumter Economic Development are pleased to announce an expansion of up to 200 new jobs throughout the Southeast this fall. The positions to be filled include service technicians, equipment operators, supervisors and management trainees.

While the jobs will be spread among TIS locations around the Southeast, up to 50 jobs will be created through the company’s headquarters in Sumter, and another 30 in the Charleston regional office.

“We’re excited about the growth of the company,” said Greg A. Thompson, Chairman and CEO of the Thompson Family of Companies. “These new jobs will help the communities they’re created in, the families of our new employees, and our company so we can better serve our customers.”

Rick Lotts, TIS Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management, said the process to add the new jobs has already begun, and he plans to fill the slots by the end of the fall quarter.

“We’re looking for the best possible employees to join our team, across the entire spectrum of what we do,” he said. “We’re confident that combining our industry-leading technology with readySC’s proven methods will result in the best employee development process we can establish, enabling our company to grow so we can meet the demands of our clients.”

TIS is a leading provider of industrial hydroblasting and vacuum services throughout the southeast, offering the broadest line of services including specialized equipment, technology and personnel. The company specializes in making manufacturing facilities ready for efficient and timely production. The Sumter-based company already employs about 650 workers spread across 20 offices in eight Southeastern states. About 310 of those jobs are in South Carolina.
