Continental Tire’s Craig Baartman Ambassador of the Year

We at Sumter Economic Development are pleased to congratulate Continental Tire Plant Manager Craig Baartman as our Ambassador for Economic Development. 

We first got to know Craig when he was part of Continental Tire's site selection team, a group that eventually chose Sumter County for the $534 million, 1,650-job state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. And we were pleased when the company put Craig in charge of the local facility by naming him plant manager. We had every confidence that Craig could make this massive endeavor work.  

Obviously the Continental team that got the Sumter plant up and running is huge, and they all share in this honor. From Hanover, Germany, to Fort Mill, South Carolina, to our own Sumter County, the breadth of this project was staggering. But Craig was the point man and ultimately the responsibility fell to him. Not only did he rise to the challenge, he conquered it.  

Congratulations to Craig and all of Continental Tire on a job well done. We are proud to be a part of the Continental family.
